A French climber who calls himself Spiderman has scaled a
47-storey building outside Paris in protest at the war in Iraq.
Wearing a shirt carrying the message 'No war', Alain Robert
reached the top of the TotalFinaElf office tower in less than an
hour.
He unfurled a flag with the same slogan at the top, where he was
met by police and escorted back down.
As he was led away, Robert said: "I wanted to protest against the
war because I find the war completely illegal."
The 40-year-old is renowned for climbing without ropes or other
equipment.
He has also scaled the Eiffel Tower and more than 30 skyscrapers,
including the Empire State Building in 1994, and the Petronas Twin
Towers in Malaysia, in 1997.
